Plan on 6–8 sessions, spaced 4–8 weeks apart. That's not upselling — it's biology. The laser only disables follicles that are actively growing, and at any moment just a fraction of your hair is in that phase. A series catches each follicle on its schedule; anything promising "done in two visits" is fighting your physiology.
Why can't one session do it?
Hair cycles through growth (anagen), transition, and resting phases. Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in actively growing hairs and conducted down to the follicle — hairs in resting phases shrug it off and grow later. Each session clears a share of active follicles; 6–8 sessions covers the full rotation. Most guests see meaningful reduction by session 2–3.
Does hair color and skin tone change the plan?
Yes — this is the part that makes provider choice matter. Dark hair on lighter skin absorbs laser energy most efficiently; finer or lighter hair responds more slowly and may need more sessions. Darker skin tones need equipment and settings chosen carefully so energy targets the follicle, not the skin's own pigment. At Carroll Cosmetic Club, settings are chosen per-patient by laser-certified practitioners under dermatologist medical direction — the safety difference between a medical setting and a kiosk.
What about maintenance?
After a full series, most people enjoy long-lasting, dramatic reduction — but hormones (and life) can wake up occasional new follicles. Expect a touch-up somewhere between annually and rarely. Club members get touch-ups free while active, which effectively future-proofs the investment. Our packages of five also include unlimited touch-ups — see pricing.
How to get the most from each session
Shave within 24 hours of your appointment (the energy should go to the follicle, not the hair above the skin), skip waxing and plucking for the whole series (the follicle must be present to treat), and avoid sun and self-tanner. Small areas take about 15 minutes.
